An Orphaned Foal And His Teddy Bear

A farmer spotted a severely dehydrated foal named Breeze stumbling on a hillside in the national park just hours after his birth. Rescuers from a local equine sanctuary, the Devon-based Mare and Foal Sanctuary, nursed Breeze back to health, but soon realized the baby was missing one vital thing - a mom to cuddle up to.

So they put a four foot teddy (nicknamed Buttons) into his pen and the pair have been inseparable ever since. Sanctuary executive director Syra Bowden said: `Sadly, little Breeze hasn`t got his mum around to keep him company. Although his carers here at the sanctuary work around the clock to look after him, it`s not quite the same. As a result, we always give our orphaned foals a giant cuddly toy as a companion.
