Harrie Smolders

Harrie Smolders is a leading international showjumper who has represented the Dutch showjumping team on many occasions, below you can see him in action representing Holland at the 2016 Olympic games in Rio, Brazil with his talented horse Emerald.

Harry took up horse riding when he was 8 years old. He decided to give it a go when there was talk of his sisters horse being sold. He was scared to death at first and hardly dared jump over a tree trunk. But after about a year the penny dropped and the obstacles couldn�t be high enough for him. Harrie was a good all rounder in his pony career. He won NKB titles in the dressage and jumping. Harrie sat his HAVO exam and simultaneously succeeded with flying colours for the Master class in Deurne. He decided to continue in the world of horses and started working for a famous show jumper Johan Heins. Harrie is a member of the Rabobank Talent Team since 2003. It is worth mentioning that Harrie is very committed to the training of talent. Since the establishment of the Talent Plan he has been affiliated as trainer within the Trainers Platform. His home base is in Grobendonk (B) at Axel Verlooy�s stables. He is trained daily by Axel Verlooy. He is recognized and acclaimed as a major talent, his unprecedented sense of horsemanship and his will to win have leading him to great achievements.
