Ludo Philippaerts

An equestrian elite Ludo Philippaerts was born 22nd June 1963 from Genk, Belgium and represented his country on many occassions over the years. The Philippaerts is a renowned equestrian family his brother Johan Philippaerts is also an international showjumper, Ludo Philippaerts has four children, twins Nicola and Olivier born in 1993 who are also showjumping riders and two younger children Thibaud Philippaerts and Anthony Philippaerts.

Ludo Philippaerts has competed at the highest levels of showjumping, including representing Belgium at four olympic games, he is forever linked with the great stallion Darco who he competed in many championships winning many ribbons over the years, he has also competed many offspring sired by the great Darco, these include Parco, King Darco, Otterongo and many others.

Otterongo

Otterongo is a horse who was jumped with a great deal of success with Belgium shojumping rider Ludo Philippaerts, together with Ludo Otterongo represented Belgium at the Athens Olympics, finishing 4th in the individual section, the pair were also 2nd at the European Championships in 2001 and 5th in the 2000 world cup final that was help in Las Vegas.

Otterongo was a son of the legendary jumping stallion Darco who was also competed by Ludo Philippaerts, other offspring of Darco include`s Parco the success grey jumping stallion who also had so much success with Ludo Philippaerts.
