Contender

Canabis Z

Canabis Z finished in a fine 4th place in the finals for the 5-yr-olds of the World Championship for Young Horses 2000. The impressively jumping Canabis Z is, like Chellano Z, a representative of the Holstein showjumping producer Contender, from which Canabis Z has inherited his phenomenal jumping manners. Contender, out of the famous Gofine (Ramiro Z x Ladykiller xx) is, like his sire Calypso II, also very successful in Hanoverian breeding. In the sport many of his offspring from his Oldenburg first season are now breaking through at international level, such as Virtual Village Niko (Geoff Billington), Cope d`Ora (Yves Houtackers) and Bollvorm`s Maria Callas (Ben Schröder). Canabis Z`s dam Eileen III descends via Silvester and Cor de la Bryère to the mare Palestine (L`Amour).

At the 1987 Holstein autumn auction Carillon, a Caletto II son out of Palestine, went for the record amount at the time of DM 140,000 to the famous international showjumping rider Willi Melliger. Palestine, in combination with Othello and Cor de la Bryère, also supplied Olympic Dream and Cordelabryère who both jumped successfully in the German national championship. Like the licensed stallion Gambo (Galvani I) Palestine descends from the mare Censur, a daughter of Markgraf who further back in her pedigree carries the blood of Meisterschütz and First. Latter stallion is partly responsible for the genetically rooted jumping potential of the Holstein horse.
