Maat van Uitert

Maat van Uitert is a USDF gold medalist based in Maryland, Virginia, and Florida. In 2013, Maat was accepted into the USDF "L" program with the intent to become a USDF licensed judge. To continue to add to her equine education, in 2013 Maat completed a course in equine nutrition through the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies at the University of Edinburgh. Maat took her first riding lesson at age 8, and in 2006 purchased her first dressage horse, a Dutch Warmblood mare named Nicolbria. Maat trained Nicolbria to the Prix St. George level.

Maat continued to climb the levels, and in 2009 acquired her current Grand Prix mount, Nikita. Together, Maat and Nikita competed at Intermediate I in 2011, and in 2012 made their Intermediate II and Grand Prix debuts. During the 2012 competition season, Maat and Nikita were in the Top 3 in each of their Grand Prix starts, and qualified for the GAIG/USDF Region 1 Championships at both the Intermediate II and Grand Prix levels, as well as for the prestigious Dressage at Devon CDI-W. Maat and Nikita finished their first year at Grand Prix in the top 100 for the Horse of the Year awards at the Grand Prix level, and were 40th nationally at the Intermediate II level. Maat was in the top 3% nationally for Dressage Horse Owners, based on USEF rankings.

In 2011, Maat imported Sublime JS as a new small tour horse, and established Jotunheimens Staller as a breeding program to produce quailty Dutch Warmbloods for the dressage ring. In 2012 Nicolbria gave birth to Hava JS, who was granted premium status from KWPN-NA in 2012, and who, at the age of 2 months, topped her Dutch Warmblood breed class at VADA/Nova Summer Breed Show I with a 73.7%. Maat also owns Chamonix SSH, her 3 year old Holsteiner stallion, who Maat plans to enter into the North American 70 day stallion test in 2014.

Maat and her competition string currently train and compete in Wellington, FL.
