Albert Voorn

Albert Voorn is a showjumping rider from Holland who has been one of the world`s best competitors for over 30 years. Albert Voorn rode the horses of the famous VDL Stud where he rode some of fantastic horses including the legendary Nimmerdor who was one of the first jumping stallions to combine a successful career in the showjumping arena with that of being a busy breeding stallion. Nimmerdor and Albert Voorn were picked to represent the Dutch national team at the Olympics but declined to compete because of stud commitments.

As well as Nimmerdor Albert Voorn has competed many other excellent showjumpers, in 2000 Albert Voorn won an individual silver medal at the 2000 Olympics with his stallion Lando.

True North Stables is located in the heart of horse country in picturesque Dewinton, Alberta, near the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. The operation was started by Debbie Garside in 1986 and was named after her famous Canadian hunter `True North`. `True North` ( pictured above with John French at Harrisburg, PA) was a thoroughbred gelding with previous training as a 3-day event horse. He later became one of the most successful hunters in the United States winning championships from California to New York.

Now specializing in imported horses from South America, True North Stables has recently produced such horses as "Bohemia" USA Horse of the Year, and Amanda (Amancay) Champion 1st Yr Green on the Indio Desert Circuit 2005.

After 19 years, the True North tradition of excellence continues into the new millennium, under the guidance of one of Canada`s only NCCP Level 4 coaches, Debbie Garside and her staff of assistants. (pictured above: Debbie and student Laura Lopez from Colombia). For two decades True North Stables has been the host of some of Alberta`s premier hunter jumper shows, and since moving to the new location in 2002 now offers seven competitions annually.
